Universal Bathroom Design For Lane County

Elevate Accessibility without Compromising Charm

Featured here is a charming bathroom remodel in Eugene’s Lane County. The Baskin’s main objective was to transform their outdated bathroom into an oasis using Universal Design concepts, including a walk-in tub and Toto Bidet.

A unique feature is the Universally Designed, Delta Décor Assist Wall Mounted Tissue Holder. While this may appear to only be a tissue holder, it also doubles as a discreet assist bar! The dual-function design supports up to 300 lbs while seamlessly blending into the renovated space.

Designed with an ‘aging in place concept’ in mind an American Standard  Walk-In Bath was chosen. Designed to maximize space, this 52” x 30” Gelcoat walk-in is designed to fit in small spaces while using less water. Ms. Baskin was heartbroken when her previous bath became inaccessible. Now, she can enjoy her bath again while also soaking up all of the benefits this fully equipped bath has to offer. Complete with three separate massage systems, durable assist bars, an outwardly swinging door, a chair-height built-in seat, and a slip-resistant surface; luxury and functionality collide. The bathtub offers a lavish experience while providing safety and ease of use.

Updating the Functionality

The original bathroom was a poorly designed small space that became inaccessible over time. The key objectives were to elevate the functionality and accessibility, while also updating the layout and aesthetic. Originally built in the 1950s, this bathroom remodel presented plumbing challenges that needed to be addressed before completing the remodel. Thankfully, Castile’s team of experts solved the problem quickly, giving the couple the bathroom of their dreams. While Castile prefers to show you their remodeling work, here is an idea of how the area looked before.

The Focal Points

Universal Design for Lane County Eugene Bath Remodel

The centerpiece of this bathroom remodel is a simple Fresca Torino 36-in Single Sink Bathroom Vanity in White adorned with a Delta Bowery Vessel Sink Faucet. This vanity brings a fresh contemporary feel to the bathroom with its frosted glass panels, matching countertop, and unique vessel sink. The doors open to reveal an abundance of storage while the drawers keep daily needs within reach.

A major highlight in this remodel is the Toto Vespin II complete with a Toto C100 Washlet Bidet. After traveling overseas to Japan, the Baskins fell in love with the commonly used Bidet. While the Bidet’s popularity is still on the rise here in the United States, the couple knew they wanted to include one in their new bathroom! The bidet lets users step into a lavish standard of living. Soft-close lid, a heated seat, air deodorizer, and adjustable warm air dryer provide luxury at your fingertips!

Remodeling Satisfaction

Last but not least, a hand-painted Art Tile backsplash playfully runs along the wall above the vanity. This hand-painted tile adds a vintage aesthetic that is cohesive to the rest of the 1950s home while also creating a colorful focal point. The tub is accented by a custom Cultured Marble surround with a large niche in Winter Pine. The subtle green playfully matches the Art Tile backsplash while adding a pop of color. Finally, the finishing touch is Moen 4 Function Transitional Handshower. A handheld wand is an ideal option for a walk-in tub because it allows users to wash their shoulders, arms, and hair while remaining seated.
