Katie and Chris first worked with Castile Kitchen & Bath to design and remodel their outdated kitchen. After discovering water damage in their bathroom, they knew it was time to bring the Castile team back for a bathroom remodel.
With the bathroom being small and lacking storage space a few of the objectives for this remodel were to maximize the usable space of the room and create storage space. The home owners wanted an updated design reflective of their vintage home while keeping the existing layout. Castile’s custom design process helped to uncover all of Katie and Chris’s needs for the project while ensuring they met their budget.
The vintage 1920’s Kohler Cast Iron bathtub was a unique feature of this room, to preserve the classic feel the bathtub was refinished. A Satin White on White cultured marble shower surround encases the tub with a recessed storage niche built into the surround creating a place to store their bath products. Polished chrome fixtures added to the timeless feel throughout the home.
To address the storage issue, a custom white wall cabinet was installed under the window, featuring traditional style shaker doors and a matching cultured marble countertop. This provided ample storage space for towels and toiletries, keeping its contents hidden while not protruding too far into the room. To further minimize obstructions, and keep the space cozy a toe kick heater was installed underneath the cabinet to heat the room.
A beautiful, bright white turn-of-the-century styling American Standard Retrospect Collection 27 Inch Pedestal Sink was installed next to the shower. Embellished with an elegant polished chrome American Standard Portsmouth Wide Spread Lavatory Faucet, unifying the look and feel of the room. To add additional storage space a Miseno Carlentini medicine cabinet was recessed into the wall behind a classic beveled mirror creatively maximizing the potential storage space in this room.
Marmoleum, a traditional and natural product known for its beauty, durability, and sustainability, was chosen for the flooring in this space. The Welsh Slate color creates a sleek contrast to the white while preserving the timelessness of the room protecting the vintage feel of this farm house.
Katie and Chris were thrilled with the result and surprised that so much space was added to the room without completely changing the layout!
