When George and Erin reached out, they were looking to update the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms in their home to improve the look and feel. Castile’s personalized design process was the first step to ensuring all of George’s goals were met before the project started.
One of the main goals was to add new tile flooring with a radiant heat system for those cold winter mornings. They also wanted to update the faucet, sink, countertop and shower surround to revitalize the appearance of both spaces.
Rustic Blend Flat Pebble flooring was installed in both bathrooms, with underfloor heat systems, controlled by a wall-mounted programmable thermostats. This gave the homeowners a warm space to walk into during the cooler months, control over their energy bill by choosing what times of day to run the heat, and the pebble floor left the spaces with a natural and earthy feel.
Simplistic and unique Kohler Iron Impressions one piece vanity-top bathroom sinks in “Sea Salt” were chosen for both spaces. With its graceful curves, the Iron/Impressions sink added elegance to these bathrooms. The spacious rectangular countertop flows seamlessly into an elongated oval basin, creating a sophisticated design element. Enameled cast iron construction makes these sinks durable and easy to clean, which is a added bonus. A 2″ sand tile backsplash completed the look, along with brushed nickel faucets.
The same Rustic Blend Flat Pebble flooring was installed in the downstairs bathroom shower, and the same tile used for the backsplash was used for the shower surround giving it a simplistic feel. A Brushed Nickel shower head was installed and a 3/8” frameless glass pivot shower door with Brushed Nickel hardware to match the other fixtures.
These previously plain and understated bathrooms, were brought to life with striking color, textures, and a unique simplicity to match the homeowner’s sense of style.
